A bully hates to see me coming

If you are a friend or have ever worked with me, you know I can’t stand mean people. I am anti-racist, an intersectional feminist, a leftist/socialist (who will never fully be able to let capitalism go and fully believe in the need for profit). The happiest, most productive societies are the ones that provide supportive infrastructure and belonging. Hierarchies of authority and oligarchy, for example, make the general population miserable. There is real data to prove that a bully within a department destroys morale and, consequently, productivity and profit. Do not let bullies get away with it. In corporate HR, I would hear from leaders that they could not do anything about a bully because they were so good at their job. We instituted a performance management program that measured both what someone did and how they did it - equally. It matters a lot. What you let go or overlook is harshly viewed by your team. Your own leadership is undermined by letting a bully exist. If you don’t do something about bad behavior, why should anyone follow you? Trust is destroyed in departments where a leader is weak on bad behavior. Get your leaders used to confronting difficult people and situations through training. I have a one hour program that I am happy to provide to clients at no charge. It means that much to me. We cover tried and true techniques and practice using the language that works when managing conflict. All my best, Jen
